“Conservative Votes, Liberal Victories” was influential conservative commentator Pat Buchanan’s first book.  Published in 1975 in the wake of Nixon’s resignation, the book addresses the question of why the political right has been such a success in the political arena, and such a manifest failure in influencing public policy. Conservatives captured the GOP in the coup at the Cow Palace in the summer of 1964 and rallied behind Nixon in the campaign of 1968 and landslide of 1972 and yet, Buchanan argues, their influence upon public policy has been almost nonexistent.  Buchanan analyzes this problem that still beleaguers conservatives today.
