The Common Law
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. is regarded as a giant of American jurisprudence. He was appointed to the Supreme Court by Theodore Roosevelt in 1902 and would serve for the next three decades. The Common Law, written in 1881, has achieved the status of a classic, and has suffered the classic's fate of being much cited and little read. Yet, it remains the only major, scholarly product of Holmes's acute mind. Gryphon is proud to present a reproduction of the first edition of this important work.
