Description

The Trial of Zacarias Moussaoui, the alleged 20th hijacker in the 9/11 terrorist attack, was described by some in the media as “the (untelevised) trial of the century,” and as “one of the most important criminal cases in decades.”  It was the first, and really the only, “trial” of anyone accused of complicity in the 9/11 terrorist attack, since the actual 9/11 hijackers were all killed. Donohue presents an anthropological view of Moussaoui.  The author did not try to justify Moussaoui’s actions and inactions (his failure to provide the FBI material that possibly could have prevented 9/11).  She does try to explain who Moussaoui is, how he came to be a potential terrorist and what we can learn from his story that might help us prevent future acts of Islamic terrorism.

“Terrorism will not only persist, it will spread around the world, because it is one of the most difficult phenomena to prevent...” - Alan M. Dershowitz
